Meet Jun Bukht, Founder of Major Pest Control
I’m Jun Bukht, founder of Major Pest Control. I’ve worked in the pest control industry since 2011, helping homeowners, businesses, and property managers understand pest problems and find practical solutions. Today, our team provides pest control services across Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, and surrounding Alberta communities.
I know how stressful an infestation can be. My goal is to give you clear answers, explain your treatment options, and help you take the right steps to protect your property.
Pest Control Work Experience
Before founding Major Pest Control in 2019, I worked with multiple pest control companies. Those years gave me experience inspecting different properties, identifying infestations, and applying treatments suited to each situation.
My work includes dealing with bed bugs, cockroaches, mice, ants, wasps, and other common pests. That experience helps me investigate how pests enter a property, where they hide, and what conditions allow them to remain.
Professional Certifications and Licences
I earned my Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) certification and completed a Certified Wildlife Control Operator in 2019. I obtained pest control applicator licenses in British Columbia and Alberta in 2012.
My ACE studies strengthened my understanding of pest identification, biology, behaviour, and management. I use that knowledge to assess infestations and explain why a particular treatment or prevention method is appropriate.
Education and Continuing Learning
I’ve completed over 100 learning points in continuing education related to pest control. Ongoing learning helps me review treatment methods, understand regulatory changes, and improve the advice I provide to customers.
I combine formal study with practical field experience when evaluating pest problems. Each property presents different conditions, so recommendations need to account for the pest, the building, and the people using it.
Industry Training, Meetings, and Seminars
I’ve attended multiple pest control training programs, meetings, and seminars, including events held by the Canadian Pest Management Association and the National Pest Management Association.
These learning opportunities have helped me expand my knowledge of pest management practices, application equipment, and prevention methods, while learning from other professionals in the industry.
Subjects I’ve Studied
1. Pest Identification, Biology, and Behaviour
My studies cover pest identification, life cycles, feeding habits, breeding conditions, and hiding places. Understanding these characteristics helps me locate the source of an infestation and choose suitable control measures.
2. Integrated Pest Management and Prevention
I’ve studied Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which combines inspection, monitoring, prevention, and targeted treatment. This includes considering sanitation, entry-point sealing, habitat changes, and treatment methods that fit the situation.
3. Pesticide Regulations and Responsible Use
My continuing education covers pesticide regulations, regulatory concerns, and responsible application practices. Understanding these requirements supports informed decisions about where, when, and how products should be used.
4. Health and Pesticide Safety
My training includes safe pesticide application, storage, and disposal, along with considerations for human and animal health. These subjects help guide treatment planning around the people and pets using a property.
5. Environmental Protection
I’ve studied pesticide movement and breakdown in the environment, including runoff and leaching. This knowledge helps me consider surrounding conditions when planning an application.
6. Application Technology and Equipment
My training covers equipment calibration, drift control, application methods, and equipment demonstrations. Proper equipment use supports accurate, targeted treatment.
Awards and Professional Recognition
During my work with previous pest control companies, I received multiple President’s Club Awards and National Toppers Awards. These included awards presented in Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, Ontario, and Alberta.
As founder, I’ve also helped Major Pest Control earn recognition among the Top Three Pest Control Companies in Edmonton, Calgary, and Red Deer, as well as a Customer’s Choice Award.
Pest Control Author and Media Contributor
I’m the author of Major Pest Control: Stories From the Trenches – A Homeowner’s Guide to Pest Control. I’ve also written multiple pest control articles to help homeowners identify pests, understand treatment options, and prevent future infestations.
I’ve shared pest control advice with CBC News, CTV News, Global News, and CBC Radio.
My Approach to Your Pest Problem
I believe good service begins with listening and a careful inspection. Before recommending treatment, I want to understand what you’ve noticed, how long the problem has been happening, and how it affects your property.
From there, I explain the findings, the recommended treatment, and any preparation or prevention steps you can take. My goal is to help you make an informed decision and reduce the conditions that allow pests to return.
