Why Does Pest Control Cost Different Amounts?
Every pest is different, and so is every property. When someone calls me for a price, I consider these factors.
- The pest. The fix for ants is nothing like the fix for mice, and bed bugs are a different job again. Some pests need one visit. Others, like cockroaches and bed bugs, take more than one visit to fully control.
- The size of your property. A small condo costs less to treat than a large home, an acreage or a multi-unit building.
- Where you are. Your location in Alberta and how far our team has to travel can affect the quote.
- How bad the problem is. Catching a pest early is almost always cheaper than dealing with one that’s been spreading for months. This is the one thing you control, and it’s why I tell everyone to call sooner rather than later.
- The season. Wasps in July, mice in October and box elder beetles in September are all predictable in Alberta. Knowing what’s active right now helps us plan the right approach.
What Does Each Service Cost and Include?
Seasonal Pest Control: Starts at $695
This is an exterior treatment focused on the perimeter of your home and any problem areas. It’s a good fit if you want to keep ants, spiders and other seasonal pests from moving in as Alberta warms up.
Ant Control: Starts at $495
We treat the outside of your home, including the perimeter and any ant hills we find. If you see ants in the kitchen every summer, we usually start there. Carpenter ants are a different story, so check our carpenter ant control page if you suspect them.
Wasp Control: Starts at $250
The price includes removing the nest (s) and a treatment to prevent them from coming back. It changes based on where the nest is and how many there are. A small nest under a deck is a very different job from one inside a wall. See our wasp removal page for more.
Box Elder Beetles: Starts at $495
This is an exterior treatment. If your south-facing walls are covered in beetles every fall, you know the problem. Our beetle control page has more detail.
Fly Management: Starts at $650
Flies take more work than people expect. We treat the perimeter and the problem areas around your home. Cluster flies and house flies aren’t handled the same way, so it helps to tell us what you’re seeing. Learn more about fly control.
Cockroach Control: Starts at $495
Cockroaches need more than one visit. The price range is wide because a small, caught-early problem in one unit costs less than a heavy infestation in a larger home or multi-unit building. We combine treatment and baiting. Learn more about cockroach control.
Bed Bug Control: Starts at $695
Bed bugs are the toughest job on our list, and the price reflects that. It takes multiple visits and a combination of professional methods. Please don’t try to fix this with store-bought sprays. I’ve seen that make it worse more times than I can count, because the bugs scatter into other rooms. Details are on our bed bug control page.
Mice, Voles and Rodents: Starts at $495
Rodent control includes professional trapping and baiting. Mice are one of the most common calls we get across Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer, especially once the first fall cold snap hits. Read more about mice control and vole control.
Skunk and Squirrel Removal: Starts at $250
We humanely trap and relocate these animals. Skunks start at $250, and squirrels start at $250. A Certified Wildlife Control Operator handles both. See skunk control and squirrel control.
Why Do Prices Change From Home to Home?
You’ll notice most of our services are a range, not one number. Three things move your price:
- Size of the area. A small condo costs less to treat than a large acreage home.
- Location. Where you are in Alberta and how far we travel can affect the quote.
- How bad it is. Catching a pest early is cheaper than dealing with one that’s been spreading for months.
That’s why I always tell people to call sooner rather than later. Waiting almost never makes it cheaper.
Is Professional Pest Control Worth It?
In most cases, yes. Pests rarely go away on their own. Mice chew wiring, bed bugs spread, and wasps get more aggressive as summer goes on. Paying once to fix it properly usually costs less than repeated DIY attempts and the damage they cause.
That said, not every problem needs a professional. A few ants in the garden or a single spider in the basement is usually fine to leave alone. If it keeps coming back, or you’re seeing more of them each week, that’s when I’d call.
Most of our services also come with a six-month warranty. You can read more on our guarantee page.
Not Sure What You’re Dealing With?
That’s very common. Our Pest Library helps you identify the pest first. Once you know what it is, you can ask for a quote with confidence.
How Do I Get an Exact Quote?
Call us any day of the week, or send us a message. Tell us what you’re seeing and where you live. We’ll explain the service, what to expect and the cost before you commit to anything.

Pest problems are not all the same. Removing one visible wasp nest is usually simpler than finding and controlling a rodent entry route or treating bed bugs in several rooms. The pest involved, the amount of activity, home size, treatment method and return visits can all affect the quote. Canadian providers use the same factors to explain their pricing.
Major Pest Control bed bug treatment starts at $695. Bed bugs can require detailed preparation, careful inspection and more than one treatment step. Health Canada advises Canadians to use a licensed pest-control professional for bed bug infestations and to follow the preparation directions supplied for treatment. Health Canada’s bed bug guidance
Not always. Starting prices show the minimum expected cost for a standard service. Major Pest Control confirms the exact quote after learning about the pest, property and treatment needs. Before booking, ask what is included, such as treatment visits, follow-up work, exclusion and warranty coverage.
Responsibility depends on the rental situation. In Alberta, landlords must take steps to control pests and maintain safe, habitable rental housing. Tenants should report problems promptly, keep the unit clean, and provide access when treatment is scheduled. If you dispute payment, review the tenancy agreement and seek tenancy advice for your specific circumstances. Alberta tenancy guidance · Alberta Health Services renter guidance
